For private investigators

Evidence the lawyer can file and the other side can verify.

Your report is worth as much as the images behind it. If the other side can claim they were edited, cherry-picked or dated at will, days of work shrink to your own statement.

The problem

Where an investigation report gets attacked

No. 01

Date and time

Surveillance hinges on exact times. If the time comes from the phone, the other side can argue it was set by hand.

No. 02

Integrity

Between capture and filing the images change hands: you, the agency, the lawyer. Without a reference fixed at the source, every hand-over is a doubt.

No. 03

Confidentiality

The images show people. Uploading them to a third-party service to “certify” them means handing personal data of the case to someone else.

How it works

01
Assignment reference

Enter the assignment number or case reference: every acquisition stays labelled.

02
Capture inside LOCUS

Photo, video or audio: each acquisition is sealed within seconds with fingerprints, device signature, timestamps from third-party authorities and location.

03
The content stays with you

The server receives only fingerprints and a histogram (photos) or waveform (audio). No third party sees what you captured, us included.

04
Hand over to the lawyer

Gather the acquisitions into a case file and hand over the ZIP: the package contains everything needed to verify it, without our software.

The package

What you hand to the lawyer

For each acquisition, a package the other side can re-check on their own:

  • the original file and a PDF report;
  • the fingerprints of the files, signed by the device;
  • timestamps from third-party authorities, including a qualified eIDAS one (InfoCert);
  • coordinates and accuracy of the capture point; for video, the route;
  • device and camera metadata at the time of capture;
  • an interactive.html page and verify.sh / verify.bat scripts. Public verification by short code shows neither the image nor the location.

Plainly put

What LOCUS does not do

  • It does not make an unlawful recording lawful. Processing personal data remains subject to the GDPR and to the national rules governing your licence.
  • It does not detect a GPS position faked on the phone: it records what the device provides, with its accuracy.
  • It proves those bytes were sealed at that instant. It does not prove the scene was not staged.
  • Admissibility and weight of evidence are assessed by the court, case by case.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

By design. Fingerprints are enough to verify a package that is produced; the content, which often shows people, stays only on your phone. That is an easier position to defend before a data protection authority and the client. The flip side: you are the custodian, and without a backup the package cannot be rebuilt.

The app records audio as a standalone acquisition (1 slot) or as a voice note attached to a photo. Whether recording a conversation is lawful depends on who takes part and on the context: assess it first, LOCUS does not decide for you.

A photo or audio uses 1 slot, a video 2. The price per slot ranges roughly from about €6 to about €3 depending on the pack, with no subscription and no expiry.

No. The package contains the page that checks fingerprints in the browser and scripts for signature and timestamps. Those who prefer an application can use Locus Validator, free for macOS and Windows.
